...When he decides to shut out the world and enter the privacy of his plastic medium, Tagliazucchi knows what he will bring out of it and present before us with fully justified artistic pride: glimpses of the untouched, the historical, the human. And precisely because they are children of his "sentiment of space", they are unfettered by codes, dogmas, habits or restrictive regulations. His Christ de Alleray (1987) is a perfect example: standing in front of it one cannot help feeling in the presence of something completely new. The same subject which has been intensely glorified in countless ways by thousands of sculptors and artists of all centuries is suddenly reborn from a uniquely personal, exquisitely intense humanism coupled - I believe - with a layman's courageous sense of religiousness.Tagliazucchi does not feel the need to waste time with descriptions; he prefers the narrow path (which he then enlarges into endless plains) of bare essence. By leaving a unique subject such as the Crucifixion free of detailed "circumstances", he enriches it with its full potential of stark drama, among suffocated cries and imperceptible exaltation...

Prof Ferruccio Battolini from the preface to the book "Tagliazucchi: impronta di una emozione***

The scuplture of Christ is engraved in a square whose dimensions determine an equal relationship between vertical and horizontal. He is placed on the axes formed by the sides of the four central squares of the iconostasis, thus by the continuity with these same axes he becomes the point of convergence and reflection. As the focal point between the place of assembly and the place of sacrifice this Christ reminds us of how the Son of God was sent to earth so that his sacrifice could renew the sacred alliance. ... The first study of Christ dates back to 1986 when it was presented in the “Chantier du Cardinal” contest to decorate the church of Notre-Dame de l’Arche de l’Alliance, which it won. The church was not built until ten years later when there was a further contest organized by the Parisian commission of sacred art headed by Cardinal J. M. Lustigere for the decoration thereof; the work was again chosen by this commission. However… architect Roubin, from “Architecture-Studio”, author of the project, opposed to its location in the Church despite that its representative on the committee had voted for him too.. It had already been manufactured full size and, at present, it lies in abeyance waiting for a sponsor who can realize it in aluminium as initially foreseen.
